Florida Marlins 1996-98

Renteria became an overnight celebrity when his 11th inning base hit won Game 7 of the 1997 World Series.  He made his first All Star team in 1998 and was dealt to St. Louis for 3 players that December.

St. Louis Cardinals 1999-2004

As a Cardinal, Renteria appeared in 3 All Star games and reached the postseason 4 times, including the 2004 World Series.

Boston Red Sox 2005

An unrestricted free agent, Renteria inked a 4-year, $40 million contract with Boston. He was unable to fit in with the Red Sox and was dealt to Atlanta for Andy Marte after just one season.

Atlanta Braves 2006-07

Renteria excelled as a Brave, earning an All Star selection in 2006 and hitting .332 with a .390 on-base-percentage in 2007.  In a cost cutting move however, the shortstop was dealt to Detroit for Jair Jurgens and a minor leaguer in October.

Detroit Tigers 2008

Despite high hopes, Renteria and Tigers struggled in 2008.  The Tigers declined to pick up his $12 million option for 2009, making the 33-year-old an unrestricted free agent.

San Francisco Giants 2009-2010

The veteran inked a 2-year, $18.5 million deal with the Giants and despite subpar numbers, provided veteran leadership to the young team. He appeared in just 72 games in 2010, but caught fire in the post season and was named World Series MVP.
