San Francisco Giants 1986, 88-89:  The 24th pick in the 1984 free agent draft, Mulholland debuted with the Giants on June 8, 1986.  He would go 1-7 that season and spend all of the 1987 season in the minors.  After appearing in 9 big league games in 1988 and 5 more to start the 1989 season, the Giants dealt the 26-year-old to Philadelphia on June 18, 1989 in a five player deal.

Philadelphia Phillies 1989-93:  Mulholland’s 4+ year stint in Philly would be the longest with one team in his career.  It was also the place where he enjoyed his most success.  On August 15, 1990 the lefthander pitched a no-hitter against his old team, the Giants. In 1991 he won a career high 16 games. In 1993 he made his only All Star appearance, helped the Phillies win the NL Pennant and started two World Series games.  Following the season, with one year remaining on his contract, Mulholland was shipped to the Yankees in a five player trade.

New York Yankees 1994:  New York was not a good fit for the Uniontown, PA native.  Mullholland went 6-7 with a career high 6.49 ERA.  He returned to San Francisco following the season, signing a one year contract.

Chicago Cubs 1998-99:  Mulholland proved to be a valuable part of the NL Wild Card winners.  He appeared in 70 games (6 starts) and compiled a 6-5 record and outstanding 2.89 ERA.  1999 didn’t go well for either him or the Cubs, he was dealt to Atlanta on July 31 in a 5 player deal.

Minnesota Twins 2004-Present:  Unable to crack the Mariners 25 man roster out of Spring Training, the 41-year-old was sold to Minnesota for just $1.  He proved to be a bargain, starting the season in the Twins bullpen and finishing it as the 5th starter for the AL Central Champs.  In July 2004, he became only the third man to defeat all 30 major league teams, when he downed Detroit.  He signed a minor league deal to return to the Twins in the offseason and is expected to make the Opening Day roster.
